King osoittaa jälleen kerran osaavansa kirjoittaa yllättävistä aiheista. Ja vieläpä jotenkin kiinnostavasti. Tässä on nimittäin tarina, jossa pariskunnan seksileikki päättyy vähän yllättävällä tavalla ja rouva jää makoilemaan kahlehdittuna sänkyyn. Alkaa melkoinen ajatus- ja toimintaleikki sen suhteen, miten Jessie voi päästä kiipelistä. Mukaan tulevat naisen päänsisäiset asujat ja menneisyyden raskaat muistot. Lisätään joukkoon vielä talossa vieraileva kulkukoira ja painajaismainen cowboy... Niistä saa revittyä irti melkoisen määrän jännitystä ja kauhua.

Tarina etenee verkkaan ja focus vaihtelee milloin nykyisyyden, milloin taas Jessien muistojen välillä. Menneisyydestä paljastuukin melkoinen painolasti, joka jotenkin saadaan kytkettyä nykyisyyden selviytymistaisteluun. Jano ja pienoinen paniikki saavat naisen yrittämään epätoivoisia asioita. Kirjan sarjakuvasovitus. En ole kirjaa lukenut, joten jollain lailla kaikki tuntui jäävän vähän epäselväksi. Tai siis, minulle jäi sellainen tunne. Henkilöhahmoissa on monta kerrosta ja monet jutut paljastuvat vähitellen tai ne heitetään lukijan naamaan ihan äkkiä. Joissain tapauksissa ne ovat jopa tosi isoja juttuja. Nyt useampikin "salaisuus" tulee mainittua todella pikaisesti. Henkilöhahmoihin ei myöskään oikein tahdo päästä sisään. Heitä on paljon ja monen kohdalla jutut käydään läpi aika pinnallisella tasolla. Pieneen määrään sivuja on pistetty melkoinen määrä tarinaa, joten tiivistyksiä varmasti on.

Sarjakuvan kuvitus on kivaa katseltavaa ja värit toimivat. Monen pojan ja miehen ilmeet vain ovat aika tyhjät ja kuolleet. Naishahmojen kohdalla on onnistuttu paremmin.

Kokonaisuus vaikuttaa ihan kivalta, mutta ehkä jos olisin lukenut kirjan, ymmärtäisin enemmän.
