Ensimmäinen kosketukseni romantasiaan, eli romanttiseen fantasiaan. Ei ihan vakuuttanut. Minulle tuli tuntu, että joka ikinen luku sisälsi samat asiat. Jompi kumpi pohtii jotain, sanoo jotain mistä toinen punastuu tai herkistyy. Ja sitten jossain vaiheessa päästään itse asiaan, eli petipuuhiin (tässä tapauksessa tosin yleensä jossain luonnon helmassa). Niin ja väliin nakataan jotain vaaroja, kuten peikkoja, palkkionmetsästäjiä tai muuta jännää. Pää maino kuitenkin sillä, että "ehkä toi tykkää miusta, ehkä ei" ja "en voi riistää häneltä hänen ansaitsemaansa tulevaisuutta". Eli siltä perus romppahömpältä.
Vähän yksitoikkoinen ja ennalta-arvattava juoni. Jossa on myös joitain aukkoja. Kuten esimerkiksi se, mikseivät tytön vanhemmat pistäneet ketään etsimään neitosta kun tämän saattue alkoi olla jo reippaasti myöhässä...
Minun kohdallani hitaaseen etenemiseen saattoi vaikuttaa myös kieli. Minulle tämän kirjan englanti oli vähän kankeaa ja kömpelöä. Siinä haettiin selvästi jotain tiettyä tyyliä, joka taas teki siitä hitaammin luettavan. Toisaalta taas teksti on niin täynnä kliseitä, että lauseen lopun saattoi hyvin arvata sanasta sanaan...
Roimaa romantiikkaa kaipaaville fantasian ystäville. Ei kannata odottaa mitään suuria yllätyksiä vaan ihan perus viihettä.
