Lyhykäinen ja nopsa seikkailu, jossa poika tutkii metsää, oppii vähän salaisuuksia ja löytää salaperäisen amuletin. Tarina sisältää myös omalaatuisen tytön, joukon ilkeitä susia ja avuliaan oravan. Loppu on sisällään aika perus “uusi poika pelastaa tilanteen” juttua. Kuvitus on vähän lapsekas. Edes pelottavat sudet eivät ole kovin pelottavia. Tämä on sarjan avaus, mutta ilmeisesti ainakaan Helmet-kirjastoista ei jatkoa löydy.
