Sarjakuvan alussa Kitty herää henkiin. Lukija tietää heti, että hän on syntynyt Annen mielikuvituksesta ja elänyt vain päiväkirjan sivuilla. Kitty ei itse tiedä sitä. Eikä hän tiedä, missä on hänen ystävänsä Anne. Vähitellen päiväkirjaa lukemalla Kitty alkaa oppia asioita. Hän joutuu myös uskomattomalle pakomatkalle, jonka aikana hän kohtaa uusia ihmisiä ja ihmeitä.
