The Highest House on mielenkiintoinen sarjakuva. Se vie lukijan maailmaan, jossa hallitsevat huoneet. Nämä huoneet ovat mahtavia ja kullakin on oma mahtinsa. Osalla on laivoja, osalla sotilaita, osalla kaivoksia… Liittoja solmitaan ja politikointi on välillä jopa hengenvaarallista. Tässä maassa suurimman työn tekevät orjat. Sellaiseksi päätyy myös nuori Moth.
Moth on nuorukainen, jonka oma äiti myy orjaksi. Uudessa elämässään hän päätyy korkealle kaikkien muiden päiden yläpuolelle. Kirjaimellisesti. Hänestä tulee katonkorjaajan oppipoika. Linna jossa Mothin omistava perhe elää, sijaitsee korkealla vuorella ja sitä pidetään valloittamattomana. Mutta sillä on myös salaisuutensa.
