Teen jälleen tylyn oletuksen ja uskon, että Iliaan tarina Troijan sodasta on edes jotenkin tuttu suurimmalle osalle. En siis ala käymään läpi sitä sen enempää. Omalla kohdallani kertomuksen lukemisesta on kulunut vuosia. Pääpiirteet kyllä muistan.

Sarjakuva on mainio keino kertoa vanhaa ja tuttua tarinaa uusille sukupolville. Etenkin jos ja kun se on toteutettu näin hienosti! Shanower ottaa aikaa kerronnassa eikä kiirehdi eteenpäin. Tässä sarjan ensimmäisessä osassa hän vasta pohjustaa asioita. Kertoo taustoja siihen miksi Troijan sota oikeastaan syttyi ja esittelee samalla tärkeitä henkilöitä. Oikeastaan tässä vasta “käynnistellään” koko sotaa. Enemmän on paino politikoinnilla ja liittoumien muodostamisilla.

Kuvitus on nättiä jälkeä ja sitä katselee mielellään. Paikoitellen osa hahmoista on harmittavan samannäköisiä, joten heitä voi toisinaan olla hankala erottaa toisistaan. Onneksi monet merkittävimmistä hahmoista omaavat jonkin “erityispiirteen”, josta heidät oppii lopulta tunnistamaan.

Hieno toteutus, joka tekee kunniaa klassikolle. Sarjakuvan lopussa on laaja selitys nimistä, sukupuuta ja vaikka mitä muuta informaatiota asioista kiinnostuneille.
